Thomas Smith is the owner and President of Smith-Grayson DOT Consulting LLC, a transportation/safety consulting company with 35 years of experience in DOT regulations and PA State Vehicle Code from both an enforcement and compliance perspective. He served as a Motor Carrier Enforcement Officer for 35 years working the tri-state area for the Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania State Police. He was also recognized as Enforcement Officer of the Year in 2010 from the Pennsylvania State Police. Some of the services he provides are Load Securement, MCSAP & OOS Criteria, CVSA Inspection Procedure, DATA Q Challenges, CVSA Roadside Inspections, Oversize Load Regulations, Passenger Vehicle Inspections, School Bus Inspections plus many other services. The goal of Smith-Grayson DOT Consulting is to provide clients with expert advise, quality programs, regulatory requirements, transportation safety, and compliance expectations.

PITTSBURGH, PA.—Ace Wire Spring & Form Company, Inc., a manufacturer of custom precision springs, recently announced that Rose George has joined the company as the new Engineering Sales Manager. 

Ms. George brings to the position a diverse background of experience - including engineering, sales, supply chain, and customer service - in the manufacturing industry. Previously, she served as a Process Engineer with All-Clad Metalcrafters and before that, as an Engineer at Swagelok Company. She has also worked directly under Bob McCormick, the former Engineering Sales Manager at Ace, as an Engineering Intern at Global Environmental Management.

As a Process Engineer at All-Clad, her responsibilities included providing daily manufacturing support, implementing Quick and Easy Kaizen suggestions, and managing projects to improve manufacturing efficiency and consistency. She also coordinated with Quality Control to establish quality standards, create a training program designed to enhance comprehension of common defects and their dispositions, and perform employee training.

As an Engineer at Swagelok, Rose participated in a leadership development program in which she assumed the roles of a Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineer, and Production Planner. Throughout her engineering roles, she was responsible for providing daily manufacturing support, financially justifying and leading multiple projects, and developing quality training programs. During her role as a production planner, she was assigned multiple departments in her facility and was responsible for managing production output, improving service levels, monitoring inventory, and assisting in projects.

While working with Bob as an Engineering Intern at Global Environmental Management, Rose assisted in creating project proposals, bidding on jobs, and performing sales calls. She helped review piping and instrumentation diagrams and updated floor layouts in AutoCAD.

On June 16, 2016 the Southpointe CEO Association honored two deserving men with their World Class CEO award. Charles C. Keller, founding partner and senior counsel of Peacock, Keller, & Ecker and Douglas G. Lee, President of Waynesburg University. The Southpointe Chamber of Commerce was happy to donate our services and equipment as a media sponsor to recognize these two esteemed men.

The Southpointe CEO Association advances the interests of businesses and business people located in Southpointe and Southpointe II. The Association promotes Southpointe and Southpointe II as a premier place to work, live, and play. It provides programs and events to meet the financial, educational, and social needs of both corporate leaders and their employees.

Over the past few years as the Southpointe Business Park became a national and international hub, especially for energy related companies, a local Cecil Township Supervisor, Frank Ludwin, had his own vision for the Park. That vision was to connect Southpointe with the Montour Trail as a recreational facility that would hopefully bring together Cecil Township residents and the employees who would one day live and work in the Park.

Although Frank passed away late in 2014, his vision has evolved into the Southpointe Connector Trail Project designed to connect Southpointe to the Montour Trail as part of the Cecil Township Klinger Park Project. As the lone visionary supervisor, he donated the use of his own earth moving equipment to begin the task. Today, the project has evolved into a joint effort among the Cecil Township Supervisors who own the property; the Marcellus Shale Southpointe Chamber of Commerce who see the economic value for the project; and the Montour Trail Council who plan to maintain the Trail once construction has been completed.
