Southpointe Town Center
1700 Main St, Canonsburg, Pennsylvania 15317

Free to attend!

Chances are, you know someone who has been touched by autism. My personal connection is that my son, Nathan, was diagnosed at 18 months with autism spectrum disorder. Thanks to therapy and a lot of support, Nathan attends public school and is doing wonderfully. I launched the Fade Away Festival as a way to help other families impacted by autism.

Last year, the Fade Away hosted over 1000 attendees and raised over $25,000 to support children with special needs. With your help, we hope to make this year’s event - on Thursday, August 2nd, 2018 in Southpointe – our best yet!

This year, we are asking you to not only join us for this FREE event, filled with entertainment, food, beer, games and more but please share this event with your friends and family! We are here to bring the community together to enjoy a great night out!

TRPIL Capital Campaign 5K Run/Walk

Dear Friend of TRIPIL,

Please join us at South Strabane Community Park, 750 Floral Hill Drive, Washington, for the third annual Transitional Paths to Independent Living (TRPIL) Capital Campaign SK Walk * Run * Roll on Saturday, April 28th, 2018. Registration will start at 8 AM; the event will begin at 9 AM.
We are holding this event to help fund the TRPIL Capital Campaign's effort to renovate the former YWCA building at 42 West Maiden Street, Washington, into TRPIL's brand new headquarters. All of the proceeds will go towards this cause and help us to construct a brand new, universally accessible headquarters and community center in downtown Washington.

Soon we will be finished with Phase 1 of this reconstruction, and we'll be able to move in! From there we will begin Phase 2: the restoration of the historic stage and auditorium, which will become available for public use.

Sponsorship signage at the main pavilion, water/rest stations, and distance marker signs along the SK fun run's course is available. The sponsorship deadline is March 31, 2018. Please make all donations and sponsorships payable to TRPIL.

Prospects to Enhance Pennsylvania’s Opportunities in Petrochemical Manufacturing March 2017 Report

Prospects to Enhance Pennsylvania’s Opportunities in Petrochemical Manufacturing Report

On April 19, 2017 The Southpointe Chamber of Commerce held an informative breakfast seminar featuring Denise Brinley, Assistant Secretary of Strategic Industry Initiatives for the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development, and Michelle Mcgregor, Senior Advisor of Energy Programs for The Nature Conservancy. The seminar focused on business opportunities in Petrochemical Manufacturing in Pennsylvania in relation to the new Shell Cracker plant as well as future developments. Below you will find a link to the full report that was referenced in the seminar.

IHS Markit is exclusively responsible for this report and all of the analysis and content contained herein. This report relies heavily on proprietary data collected on a regular basis by IHS Markit, by IHS Markit’s proprietary models and analysis, and by secondary data provided by various US government agencies supported by interviews with industry representatives and other experts. The scope of research was limited to the two primary components of NGL (ethane and propane), and how these two products could be used to enhance manufacturing opportunities in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

US NGL supply and demand

As shown in Figure 2.1, NGL production is a by-product of crude oil and natural gas production and has end
use opportunities in chemical plant, refineries, and commercial distributors. Since 2008, production of
natural gas from tight oil and shale gas plays has increased significantly, resulting in rapid growth in the
overall NGL production in the United States. NGL are by-products of natural gas production and refinery
runs and most of the NGL production in the United States is sourced from natural gas.

Figure 2.2 shows the current and significant forecast changes in the NGL supply and demand balances through 2030. NGL production from natural gas processing and refinery operations averaged about 3.4 million b/d between 2010 and 2015. With growing natural gas production, the total NGL production is estimated to nearly double—to average about 6.3 million b/d from 2026 to 2030 solely because of natural gas processing. In contrast, NGL production from refinery operations is not expected to grow through the rest of the forecast period. Imports of NGL have been declining since 2005 and will continue to decrease to minimum levels (some level of imports are required to balance the markets).

The US demand for NGL is expected to grow, driven primarily by the feedstock needs of the petrochemical industry. Demand for NGL in other sectors is expected to be flat to declining over the long term. The total demand for NGL from the various sectors in the United States will still not be enough to consume all of the NGL production, resulting in increased exports of NGL to international markets. Total exports from the United States averaged 0.5 million b/d between 2011 and 2015 and it is expected to average around 2.3 million b/d between 2026 and 2030.

Southpointe Chamber Member Siegel Jennings has New Home for Pittsburgh Office

Property tax law firm and Southpointe Chamber member Siegel Jennings has a new home for its Pittsburgh office, according to Pennsylvania partner Sharon F. DiPaolo, Esquire.  “We had grown the Pennsylvania law practice to the point that we were adding employees and running out of space,” says DiPaolo.  The firm purchased a building on Freeport Road in Blawnox, next to Fox Chapel in late summer 2016 and after some renovations, moved to its new quarters in December 2016.

Siegel Jennings is a boutique law firm that exclusively represents commercial taxpayers in real estate assessment issues.  Operating since 1976 and headquartered in Cleveland,  Siegel Jennings has experience in handling a client’s property tax needs not only in Pennsylvania and Ohio, but across the country.  “We find that many of our portfolio clients prefer ‘one stop shopping’ for all of their property tax needs, and in our 40 years of fighting for commercial owners, we have developed the expertise and network to handle cases in any state,” says Siegel Jennings Managing Partner, Kieran Jennings, Esquire.  The Pittsburgh office’s new address and fax number are:

How to get the most out of Southpointe Chamber networking events

How to get the most out of Southpointe Chamber networking events

If you’re going to attend a Southpointe Chamber event, make it count. The key is to have a plan before you leave the office.

  1. Determine number of contacts for your goal.business handshake
  2. Determine how and when you will follow up with people you meet. Phone, email, letter, etc.
  3. Bring extra business cards. (Of course.) Consider your picture on your business card to set you apart from all the others. This helps potential clients remember you.
  4. Gathering cards is more important than handing out cards. Someone doesn’t have cards? Jot their info on one of yours.
  5. Keep a felt tip pen with you and jot down what you talked about. (pens don’t write well on business cards).
  6. Tell people that you will follow up (and then do). Then they will be more receptive to hearing from you.
  7. As soon as you leave the event, take a moment to sort through the business cards; rank and categorize them.
  8. Enter them into your database and schedule contact dates in your calendar.
  9. Add each new contact to your LinkedIn network. (Face book and Twitter)
  10. Follow up with a quick email or phone call within 24-48 hours. Schedule this on your calendar.
  11. Share a resource with them–something helpful (e.g. a blog, article, book suggestion, or person they should connect with)—not a sales piece. Give first and expect nothing in return.
  12. Make it personal, “It was great meeting you at the Chamber event yesterday.
  13. Following up once may not work. Touch base on a regular basis. You’re simply staying connected.
  14. Invite your new contact to another networking event you will be attending.
  15. Continue to give and don’t expect reciprocity – it will come on its own. When you’re connecting with someone, you’re communicating with their network. The idea is to keep your name up front. Your product or service doesn’t have to apply to them, use the strength of that one connection to open many door
  16. Have a name badge made at an engraving shop and make sure you wear it on the right side.
  17. If budget allows, consider a pen, or novelty gift for special clients.
  18. Add to your opportunity by joining service groups such as Rotary, Lions, VFW,
  19. Consider joining a public speaking class or forum.
  20. It takes 2-6 months to effectively market t an organization. Be patient.
  21. Be sure to reward anyone sending referrals. A $25 or $50 gift card to a local restaurant works great.

Networking is part of business growth, and two important aspects go hand-in-hand:

1) You’re creating awareness of your brand and your existence.

2) You must capitalize on that awareness through follow up. To put it bluntly, without follow-up, you’ve wasted the opportunity.
